Too-small pockets in women's trousers, fake pockets on blazers, or a dress missing slash pockets entirely.
Pockets are everywhere on clothing, yet their existence is most noticeable when they're not included or poorly executed (too small, sewn shut, etc.).
Making pockets almost always involves a combination of various (sewing) machines, labor time, and people who produce them (usually in low-wage countries).
In the project, I explored industrial circular knitting as a way to create pockets without seams. My inspiration came from running vests, worn mainly by marathon runners. The result is a prototype vest with various slash pockets knitted directly into the object.
this project evolved in coooperation with Esche Museum, Lab, STFI Chemnitz and Econyl Yarns by Aquafil.
